Manchester United are reportedly prepared to make a £12million pay-off in order to allow Anthony Martial to leave the club this summer.
Martial has spent the last few months in La Liga, as he joined Sevilla on loan in January. However, the French forward has failed to make an impact in Spain, scoring just once from 11 appearances. Now, it is believed Man Utd are prepared to make a statement in order to offload Martial before the start of next season.
According to The Sun, bosses at United are discussing the option to pay-off Martial to help complete a summer move.
With the arrival of Eric Ten Hag, United are braced for a mass overhaul in summer. So it would be no surprise to see Martial involved in that.
Currently earning £240,000-a-week and with two months left on his contract, Martial would cost United £25 million if he stayed at Old Trafford.
However, United chiefs are hoping he will agree to accept around half of his remaining terms, in order to get out of Manchester.
United are already paying 60% of his wages while in Spain, so a permanent move would suit them better.
After an exciting start to life in England, it seems Martial will never reach the heights he once promised in Manchester.
And with United desperate for a change of fortune, it is unlikely the club will keep hold of struggling players for much longer.
The likes of Paul Pogba, Edison Cavani and Jesse Lingard could all face the same fate. All three are out of contract at the end of the season.
Sevilla staff open to Anthony Martial transfer
Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi recently admitted he would be open to Martial joining the club permanently.
Despite struggling for form and injured, Monchi believes a deal may still be worth it.
He told Radio Sevilla: “His transfer was cheaper than you think. It’s still a big bet, just six or seven million,’
“Unfortunately, it is difficult to analyse Martial’s performance when he was injured and now he is injured again.
“I’m not closing the door on his continuity. Although there’s a lot to see and discuss with the player at the end of the season.”
