Tottenham are monitoring Sampdoria starlet Mikkel Damsgaard with a view to a summer bid, according to reports.
Damsgaard has burst onto the scene in Serie A this season after joining Sampdoria from Nordsjaelland in Denmark over the summer.
A winger, he has started eight games and made a further seven appearances as a substitute. So far, he has scored two goals and provided three assists.
Hence, the fee of just over €6m that Sampdoria paid to sign him is already looking like a shrewd investment. They may be able to sell him for a decent profit further down the line.
In fact, there are already potential suitors queuing up for his signature. According to Corriere Dello Sport, Tottenham and Bayer Leverkusen are showing signs of interest.
Spurs are looking at long-term reinforcements in attack. For example, they signed Carlos Vinicius and Gareth Bale on loan for this season, but may have to consider other options on a permanent basis.
Damsgaard would be one for the future, but as he is showing with Sampdoria, he could also make an impact in the short-term.
Therefore, he could be an ideal option to complement Tottenham’s first-choice attackers. It is not suggested how much they would be willing to pay yet, nor what Sampdoria will demand.

Damsgaard building up experience
The 20-year-old already has experience playing in Europe, having competed in the 2018-19 Europa League for Nordsjaelland.
He also made his senior debut for Denmark in a friendly against Sweden in November. He also sat on the bench for a Nations League match in which current Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg played.
Therefore, he already has connections at Spurs – although if they are serious about him, they will face competition from the Bundesliga.
Leverkusen are also keen on the youngster and could pose a threat to any summer bid.
