Manchester United are in a tussle for a highly-rated Austrian starlet, while Leeds meet resistance in their bid to sign a defender – both in all the latest Euro Paper Talk.
MAN UTD FIGHTING FOR AUSTRIAN STARLET
Manchester United remain firmly in the hunt to sign Austrian wonderkid Yusuf Demir, according to a report.
The 17-year-old attacking midfielder, who plays for Rapid Vienna, has caught the eye after bursting onto the scene this season.
The teenager has chipped in with six goals and laid on two others in 24 appearances for his club. Despite not holding down a role as a regular starter, he has developed an undeniable influence on the team.
In fact, he lined up against Arsenal in this term’s Europa League group stages.
Previous reports have outlined United’s interest, as well as interest from rivals Manchester City.
Those reports claimed that it could take anywhere between €5million (£4.3million) and €15million (£13million) to sign Demir.
However, Bild‘s latest report claims that he will be available for the lower price of €5million.
His signing for United would fall in line with the club’s exciting recent policy of snapping up the world’s best young talents.
Wingers Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri have signed in recent months, with the former netting a stunning goal on his Europa League debut for the club last week.
However, former Austria international Toni Polster urged Demir to snub the Red Devils and sign for Borussia Dortmund. The German club, as well as Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich, also have interest.
“Yusuf Demir is only 17 years old, but you can already see the incredible potential in him,” Polster told Bild.
“Of course, some clubs will be looking for Demir. But for Borussia, of course, you could say that the club has proven sustainably that they can deal with talents.”
