Euro Paper Talk: Arteta targets five midfielders to fix Arsenal creativity issues; Liverpool, Inter in shock transfer talks Arsenal have a five-man midfielder shortlist as they look to bring creativity to their side, Liverpool and Inter Milan are in shock transfer talks, while Juventus are set to beat Leeds to a €40m target, according to Monday’s Euro Paper Talk. FIVE MIDFIELDERS EYED BY ARSENAL Mikel Arteta wants to fix Arsenal’s creativity issues in midfield by signing up to two creative midfielders in January, according to reports. The Gunners finally found their rhythm on Saturday as Chelsea were swept aside 3-1 – but it’s been an inconsistent season so far. Indeed, the major criticism of Arsenal has been their lack of midfield creativity. To fix the problem, Arteta has his eyes on two midfield targets. His No 1 target remains Christian Eriksen, who will be allowed to leave Inter Milan in January. The Dane’s first choice remains a return to Tottenham and reports on Monday claimed they are exploring that possibility. However, should that deal fail to come about, Arsenal are waiting in the wings to seal a controversial transfer. Eriksen though does have some doubts about making the move to Arsenal, as detailed here. As such, Arteta has also targeted a January move for RB Leipzig’s Christophe Nkunku.   The French midfielder has been on Arsenal’s radar for some time and the Gunners considering signing him prior to his move to Leipzig. However, his form this season under Julian Nagelsmann has been impressive. Nkunku has scored three goals and registered three assists across 16 games so far. And technical director Edu believes he’d be the perfect addition to the Gunners midfield and add that creative ingredient they so badly lack. As per The Athletic, Arsenal are also looking into deals for Borussia Dortmund midfielder Julian Brandt and Barcelona’s Riqui Puig. Norwich City’s creative midfielder Emi Buendia also remains an option.
