Carragher digs out ‘sloppy’ Liverpool star after error in West Brom draw Jamie Carragher called out Liverpool youngster Curtis Jones for his ‘sloppy’ mistake that led to West Brom’s equaliser on Sunday. The Anfield legend claimed that Jones was partly culpable for the set piece from which Semi Ajayi scored an 82nd-minute leveller, as the Baggies earned a 1-1 draw with the Premier League leaders. Speaking to Sky Sports, Carragher said: “It’s nothing new when teams come to Anfield and defend [in numbers]. “It’s difficult to create when there are so many men behind the ball, but it’s important not to give the opposition a chance. “It was sloppy from Curtis Jones. It was Liverpool’s own making, really.” The 19-year-old was part of a Reds side who were frustrated by West Brom’s tactics under new boss Sam Allardyce. And Carragher added: “That’s the nature of Allardyce’s game and that’s why he gets brought into clubs. “Playing like that means the opposition score too many goals against you but you don’t get too many yourself. You need a bit of luck. “It’s still a huge job for West Brom. They’ll need to strengthen their squad if they are to stay up.” Defensive worries again for Klopp As for the Reds, their defensive woes continued after Joel Matip picked up yet another injury. The centre-back was replaced by Rhys Williams against the Baggies, leaving Liverpool thin on the ground at centre-back.   Carragher added: “It’s a massive worry but it’s not a new worry. It’s paramount that Liverpool sign someone in January. “I still think Liverpool are the best team but the only way they don’t win it is if they have problems at centre-back and if Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips have to play for a long period. “Fabinho’s gone there and looked like a top class centre-back but Joel Matip is just too injury-prone. His body can’t take the rigours of Premier League football. “At this moment, Liverpool have one senior centre-back this season and he’s injury prone – so they have to do something.” READ MORE: Wolves seeking ambitious Real Madrid raid as interest in Liverpool star cools The post Carragher digs out ‘sloppy’ Liverpool star after error in West Brom draw appeared first on teamtalk.com. - SPORT BETTING
