After moving to the Spanish capital in 2014, he is closing in on 300 club appearances, with 158 clean sheets to boot. But while he will have two years left on his contract this summer, he recently opened the door to a move to the Premier League. Asked if he could move to the English top flight, he said: “I don’t know. I don’t know what the future will bring, but I am sure that in any league I would play I could play well. You never know what will happen in the future. “Now I have been in Spain for seven years. Let’s see. I’m still young. Not so young anymore, but I still have some years in front of me. “The most important thing for me is the hope that I do not suffer any injuries. Let’s see what the future will bring.” According to Fichajes, Chelsea and United are ready to splash the cash to sign Oblak this summer. The report claims that both clubs are ready to put a minimum of €80million (£70million) on the table as a first bid. While the Slovenia international has a £102million release clause, £70million could present a good starting point in negotiations for a potentially cheaper deal. What’s more, both clubs could include current players to finance the deal further. Blues goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has faced an uncertain future for some time and he remains Thomas Tuchel’s second choice.
