Everton have reportedly been told they must offer a cash-only deal of no less than €15million (£12.7million) if they are to sign Besiktas striker Cyle Larin.
Larin, 25, has drawn interest from the Toffees after scoring 14 goals in 28 Super Lig appearances so far this season. Four of that tally came in one game back in January. With a contract until 2022, he could be an attractive option for some clubs in the transfer market. Everton are among his admirers. The Merseyside club were lining up a player-plus-cash offer that included Cenk Tosun returning to his former club on a permanent basis. Tosun has been on loan in Istanbul since the start of the year.
However, according to Fotomac, the Turkish club do not favour this proposal. Instead, they want their desired fee to be met.
The Canada striker started his professional career with Orlando City in the MLS, before moving to Besiktas in 2018.
He struggled for game time in his first full season, prompting a loan move for the 2019/20 campaign to Belgian side Zulte Waregem.
Waregem had a option to buy Larin in the deal which they were going to activate and then sell him on to Leeds. However, the coronavirus pandemic caused financial difficulties that scuppered the move.
He has since become an ever-present in the Black Eagles’ starting XI, missing just a single league game through suspension.
Larin is the third top goalscorer in Turkey’s top flight. His goals have helped Besiktas to sit top of the league with 11 games of the season remaining.
He has a further four goals in all competitions, meaning he is averaging better than a goal every other game so far this campaign.Give our social media channels a follow – we’re on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
Young starlet in demand
Meanwhile, the Toffees face a battle to keep hold of young full-back Thierry Small. Reports suggest there is interest from the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal.
Small became Everton’s youngest ever player when he made his senior debut as a 16-year-old in January. He wasn’t on the pitch for long but is expected to have a bright future. However, that may lie away from Merseyside. According to the Daily Express, Arsenal and Man Utd are among the teams following Small. The left-back is yet to agree professional terms with Everton. The club are keen to keep the teen talent and have long since put a three-year contract offer on the table. However, Small is considering his options.
