Bruno Fernandes is reportedly set to be offered a double-your-money pay rise at Manchester United to keep him more in line with the club’s top earners.
The Portuguese playmaker has been the club’s best player since his arrival from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020.
But like the rest of his teammates, the 26-year-old has seen his form take a dip in recent weeks as United have struggled.
Fernandes failed to influence the game again as the Red Devils were held 0-0 at Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.
But despite that, The Sun reports that the Portugal international will soon have his £100,000-a-week wage boosted.
Although Fernandes does earn more in bonuses, he’s still way behind the likes of David De Gea and Paul Pogba.
Indeed, Fernandes is one of the lowest paid regular first-teamers at Old Trafford, and wants a pay rise.
The Sun reports that Fernandes will see his salary doubled, with extras on top of that for appearances, goals and silverware.
The attacking midfielder is currently the seventh highest paid player at Old Trafford.
To put that into perspective, De Gea is on around £375,000-a-week, while Pogba earns £290,000 – with Anthony Martial slightly behind.
The list then continues with Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford and captain Harry Maguire all earning more.
Fernandes was given a five-and-a-half-year deal with the option of a further 12 months in January 2020.
He was more happy to sign off his £100,000-a-week contract. The reason for that being it was £60,000-a-week more than he was on at Sporting.
However, it looks like that figure is set to change dramatically, as Fernandes continues to prove he is one of the best players in the Premier League.

Henderson set for extended United run
Dean Henderson has been told to expect an extended run in the Manchester United team.
The MEN reports that the 23-year-old was told before the goalless draw with Crystal Palace to prepare for the possibility of starting United’s next six games.
Ole Gunnar Solksjaer refused to reveal why David De Gea was missing for United’s third successive goalless draw. However, it’s claimed the Spaniard will not return this month.
Personal reasons was the official line from United, meaning that Henderson will start Sunday’s huge Manchester derby.
The England stopper will also face AC Milan in the Europa League last 16 ties. Games against West Ham and Leicester in the FA Cup are also on the horizon.
If Henderson does start against City, it will be the first time he’s started successive league games for United. Read more…
