Juventus’ long-standing interest in Man Utd midfielder Paul Pogba is documented, while Barcelona join the clubs eyeing up a Leeds star – both in the latest Euro Paper Talk.
MAN UTD OFFERED QUARTET FOR POGBA
Juventus have offered four players to Manchester United in exchange for Paul Pogba since April last year, according to a report.
Pogba has faced continued speculation over his future since moving back to Manchester from Turin in 2016.
Indeed, the uncertainty came amid his lack of form and consistency, as well as his struggles with injury. However, such speculation has died down amid the Frenchman enjoying arguably his best spell in a United shirt.
Nevertheless, Juve have proved to be continuing admirers of the player whose form in Serie A resulted in his £89million move back to England.
In fact, Calciomercato reports that the Italian giants have offered four of their own since April 2020 in a bid to tempt United and Pogba.
Winger Douglas Costa and midfielder Miralem Pjanic were the first to be dangled to Old Trafford. However, the Red Devils rejected those attempts shortly after the start of the first coronavirus lockdown.
In the ‘following months’, Juve also offered midfield duo Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey, again being rebuffed.
Throughout Juve’s attempts, though, the message from United’s chiefs including executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward was that they would only accept over €100million (£88million) for their midfielder – and no players in return.
But the report adds that the Serie A side will try again in the coming months. United triggered their 12-month extension option in Pogba’s contract in October, meaning his contract now expires in 2022.
