Liverpool have a back-up option in case their bid to sign Ozan Kabak falls through today, while Celtic are trying to negotiate a lucrative exit for Olivier Ntcham, all in the Euro papers.
LIVERPOOL TARGET
Liverpool have an alternative target in mind if they fail with a move for Ozan Kabak today.
Transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano says the Premier League champions have “another name” on the list if they fail to get a move for Kabak ratified.
Sky in Germany report that Liverpool are in talks with Schalke of a loan deal for Kabak. However, the German side want a replacement in before the 5pm deadline.
Bild claim Liverpool have ‘great interest’ in Kabak and are talking over a loan deal with a €30m option to buy.
However, Romano says they have a plan b and it’s not Sven Botman or Duje Ćaleta-Car.
That man could be Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba.
Sport 1 reporter Patrick Berger, says Tapsoba is also a target for Michael Edwards at Liverpool. However, the timeline is unclear and he says, via Sport Witness, that Liverpool pulled out of the running when they were told his asking price.
Bayer wanted €50m for the 21-year-old, according to Berger, and that saw Liverpool look elsewhere. They claim the Reds have turned to Kabak, and Edwards and Co are working hard on a deal before the 5pm cut-off in Germany.
Still, it’s not out of the question that a deal with Bayer for Tapsoba is revisited as Klopp looks for some central defensive cover.
Liverpool are in talks with Ozan Kabak agents – Schalke would sell him only on loan with obligation to buy [total value around €30m]. But #LFC have also another name in their list if Schalke won’t find a replacement.
No Caleta-Car, no Botman. #DeadlineDay
