Bruce points to history in rallying cry for Newcastle survival ‘challenge’ Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce has urged his men to find a way of overcoming the “brutal” injury situation at the club. The Magpies’ dreadful run of results has seen them dragged into a relegation battle. From a position where it seemed they would avoid the stresses of fighting for survival, they are now in the mix. Having taken nine points from 15 games, the Tynesiders find themselves 17th in the standings. Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Wolves sees them four points above a resurgent Fulham side. But securing a point at St James’ Park came at a price – injuries to Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin. Almiron was substituted at half time after picking up a problem during the first 45 minutes. And Allan Saint-Maximin had to leave the pitch on 63 minutes. The duo will undergo scans to determine the severity of the injuries and it is a worry for the boss. Bruce is already without leading scorer Callum Wilson, who may not return until April. The England hitman tore a hamstring in the 3-2 triumph over Southampton on February 6. And the latest problems are a huge setback to the north-east outfit’s attempt to remain in the Premier League. The injured trio have netted 16 of the side’s 27 league goals so far this season. Bruce knows they face a tough few weeks but wants the rest of the players to step up to the plate. He was asked if his team could score goals and win games with their main attacking threat sidelined. And it seems as though the much-travelled tactician is remaining positive. “We’re going to have to if that is the case, we’re going to have to find a way,” he replied. “Our top goalscorer last year only scored six goals and we managed to find a way and get some results. “It’s been pretty brutal to us in that respect to our big players, so we’ll have to get on with it and accept it and take on the challenge.” March a huge month The secret to staying up will be to beat the teams around them in the table. And two of the next three fixtures fall into that category. Next up is a trip to the Hawthorns to take on a West Brom side that beat Brighton on Saturday. They then entertain a solid Aston Villa outfit before travelling to the south coast to lock horns with the Seagulls.   READ MORE: Simple reason given why Newcastle won’t re-sign Brentford star The post Bruce points to history in rallying cry for Newcastle survival ‘challenge’ appeared first on teamtalk.com. - SPORT BETTING

Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce has urged his men to find a way of overcoming the “brutal” injury situation at the club.

“It’s been pretty brutal to us in that respect to our big players, so we’ll have to get on with it and accept it and take on the challenge.”

March a huge month

The secret to staying up will be to beat the teams around them in the table. And two of the next three fixtures fall into that category.

Next up is a trip to the Hawthorns to take on a West Brom side that beat Brighton on Saturday. They then entertain a solid Aston Villa outfit before travelling to the south coast to lock horns with the Seagulls.
