Liverpool are trying to guide Mohamed Salah towards a summer transfer to Paris Saint-Germain, according to a report in Spain.
Salah’s frustrations at Liverpool have been made public this weekend with the striker telling AS that Jurgen Klopp’s decision to overlook for the captaincy against FC Midtjylland made him “very disappointed”.
His friend Mohamed Aboutrika has since claimed the Premier League champions are trying to sell the 28-year-old. Aboutrika claims there are other issues for Salah, who was left out of the starting XI against Crystal Palace, at Anfield.
However, the Liverpool Echo have since claimed that Aboutrika’s comments may have been misconstrued, or at least some quotes from the broadcaster’s coverage omitted.
He also reportedly said: “The other projects in Europe still haven’t started yet. Barcelona is still rebuilding.
“Real Madrid has a lot of stars and still hasn’t started a transition phase where they will buy more players, likely at the start of next season.
“We should not really jump the gun. He is a big player, and knows what suits him best. Changing clubs is not easy for Salah. He is an expensive player. He would cost upwards of 150m Euros, so who can today can afford that – as well as convincing Liverpool to let him go?”
Salah himself just posted a picture on Twitter of himself smiling.
Don Balon have also added their unique version of events to the Salah timeline.

They claim: “The direction is also clear: LaLiga, where the footballer would seek to wear white or blaugrana.”
The Spanish outlet insist Salah is chasing a move to one of the big two in Spain and he has verbally agreed a summer 2021 departure with Klopp.
That was even before the world looked different after the Covid-19 pandemic struck. Liverpool are apparently not happy with Salah’s plan and are instead pushing for him to go to France as a down payment on the transfer of Kylian Mbappe.
Salah, though, has his heart set on LaLiga so he can go on and win a Ballon d’Or award, which he believes is his destiny.
The Egypt forward is under contract until 2023.
Quizzed about the situation at the weekend, Klopp said: “There’s nothing to say from my side about that. All fine from my side.”
If Liverpool do have to lose Salah, they are keen to engineer a move which would help them get Mbappe to Liverpool.
‘Direct line to Mbappe’
Liverpool are “ready to fight” Real Madrid for Mbappe with Klopp desperate to coach the French sensation.
Spanish outlet Sport (via Sport Witness) carried those claims last month and said that Reds boss Klopp had “a direct line” to the Paris Saint-Germain star.
The 22-year-old’s contract is running down in the French capital with no signs of an extension.
The former Monaco attacker will see his existing deal expire in 2022 and PSG are keen to keep hold of him.
Klopp, though, is understood to be very keen on the forward and apparently “wants to coach” Mbappe.
What’s more, the feeling is mutual.
Earlier this year, Mbappe said of the Anfield side: “What Liverpool do in this moment is amazing.
“They’re like a machine, they’ve found a rhythm and are like we play again, we play again. They’ve lost zero games. When you watch you think everything is easy but that’s not easy.”
Liverpool have been tracking the progress of Mbappe since 2016, and made an offer for him in 2017.
The German apparently made an impression on the player, and that’s where the reported “direct line” comes from. However, Paris Saint-Germain’s financial muscle priced the Reds out of the market and they instead signed Mo Salah.
