Arsenal are reported to be ‘seriously looking at’ an offer from Inter Milan that would allow them the chance to Christian Eriksen back to the Premier League in January.
The former Tottenham star has struggled in his time at Inter after leaving last January. He has fallen firmly out of favour with Antonio Conte and is expected to leave next month.
Indeed, Inter CEO Beppe Marotta recently admitted that the transfer, even though it was a “bargain”, has not been “functional” for the club.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Eriksen has an agreement with Inter to leave the San Siro in January. Manchester United were strongly linked with his signature on Monday.
Now il Corriere dello Sport claims it is Arsenal who look most likely to land Eriksen in January.
They state Inter have resigned themselves to being unlikely to find a permanent buyer for the Dane next month.
Instead, however, they will look to England and engineer a loan exchange instead. Indeed, the report states Inter have proposed to Arsenal they would consider two players they’d consider in a loan trade.
As per the article, Inter would take one of Granit Xhaka or Dani Ceballos as a ‘quid pro quo’ in the deal.
Any deal for Ceballos would be complicated, given the Spaniard is on loan at Emirates from Real Madrid. However, Arsenal could try to cancel the loan with Inter willing to pick him up. That deal, it’s claimed could be preferential to all parties.
Xhaka too, however, is also of interest. The Swiss star has endured an up and down time at Emirates Stadium. It’s not the first time either he’s been mentioned as a possible makeweight in the deal.
Furthermore, the paper does state Arsenal are, very seriously, considering the offer. In addition, the article concludes that Inter now believe the Premier League is now considered the ‘only possible landing place’ for Eriksen.

Arteta lays out Arsenal demands
Defeat at Everton on Saturday leaves the Gunners 15th in the table and without a Premier League win since November 1. That nightmare run of seven games has seen them take just two points.
The Spaniard, who took the job just over a year ago, has suggested he has no plans to walk away. He also feels he has a squad of players who are willing to fight to address the slump.
“You have two types of people: fighters and victims,” he said.
“You need fighters and you don’t want any victims. Victims bring excuses, victims bring negativity. They start to blame anything that is happening around them or is not going their way.
“You need people who fight. People who contribute and people who are ready to give everything to the club in this moment.”
Asked if he felt he had enough fighters among his ranks, Arteta added: “Yes we do.
“But some of them can doubt in any moment because when you find yourself in this situation you are tempted to go to the other side and start to say ‘Oh, we are scoring own goals, we cannot play with 10 men, then we don’t have the crowd and the referee made these decisions’. I’m sorry but we don’t need any of those.”
