Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson made a curious accusation after his side were denied three points by a VAR-assisted offside decision in the Merseyside Derby.
A heated battle saw plenty of talking points emerge from the 2-2 draw.
Jordan Pickford appeared lucky to escape punishment for his reckless challenge that saw Virgil van Dijk withdrawn through injury.
While a stoppage time VAR decision ruled out what appeared to be the matchwinner from the boot of Jordan Henderson.
Sadio Mane was adjudged to have just strayed offside during the build-up, much to the frustration of Liverpool skipper Henderson.
Speaking to Sky Sports following the match, Henderson suggested that VAR officials “bend the lines” to disallow goals.
“It must be offside with VAR, it’s what everyone wants,” said Henderson.
“I think they bend the lines sometimes to make it offside. I’m not sure how they do it, I’ve seen it before.
“It’s disappointing we haven’t got the win. I thought the performance was very good and we deserved to win the game. I think Everton will be happier with the draw.”
Klopp delivers verdict on feisty affair
Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp thought his side’s display at Everton was they best they have managed at Goodison under his tenure as Liverpool were held to a draw on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking to Match of the Day, the German said: “Performance wise I’m very, very happy. Best away game we’ve played here since I started managing. I saw a really good performance.
“I would be more happy if we win but I wanted to see a response and see the team we were before. We gave away two goals on set-pieces after changing formation.
“We were dominant against a flying side. Different things happened today. This type of offside I didn’t see in the Virgil and Pickford incident.
“I didn’t see it back but it took a while so obviously it wasn’t too big an offside and Jordan Pickford takes him out the game. I didn’t see it back I only saw it briefly. For [Jordan] Henderson’s goal I didn’t see offside – but it is because someone decided it.
“Pickford kicks him completely. I need to watch it back. I’ve seen the disallowed goal at the end and in the picture I saw it wasn’t offside. Can someone explain that to me?” Klopp added.
