Ancelotti explains what has changed at Everton after promising start Carlo Ancelotti says the change of “spirit and atmosphere” at Everton has been the driving force behind their impressive start to the 2020/21 campaign. The Toffees currently top the table having won four and drawn one of their five games so far. Last weekend’s Merseyside derby is the only game they have failed to win. Many expected some improvement from Everton this term under the guidance of ex-AC Milan and Real Madrid boss Ancelotti. The Italian is in his first full year in charge having taken the Goodison hotseat last December. However, their hot form has taken most by surprise. And Ancelotti has credited the change of attitude amongst his squad for that, stating things are much different to how they were when he arrived on Merseyside. Speaking to Sky Sports he said: “I think that the spirit and the atmosphere at the training ground and in the training sessions has totally changed compared to last season. “Last season was a really difficult season for everyone because they didn’t start well, they changed the manager, I arrived, [there was] the lockdown, so it was really complicated. “The players were able to switch and prepare for the new season with a different spirit, that was the key.” Goals remain the same despite fast start As they are currently setting the pace in the top flight of English football and are playing some attractive football, it has been suggested Everton could make a charge for the title. They haven’t won the league since 1987 and are without a trophy of any kind since 1995. But there is a feeling that the current crop could challenge for silverware. But when asked if he has changed his aims for the year, Ancelotti insisted he remains fully focused on the targets set out in pre-season. “No it doesn’t change, we’ve started well but it doesn’t change,” he said. “We want to reach the European positions for next season, we want to play in Europe next season. “There are two possibilities; we are going to play in the Europa League or we are going to play in the Champions League. We hope to reach this goal, it is really important for us and for the club.”   The post Ancelotti explains what has changed at Everton after promising start appeared first on teamtalk.com. - SPORT BETTING

Goals remain the same despite fast start

As they are currently setting the pace in the top flight of English football and are playing some attractive football, it has been suggested Everton could make a charge for the title.
