Their strikers created problems, we couldn’t control them. “We conceded a goal that is a replica of a goal that we conceded last season here, with a long ball behind our defenders and Ings winning that duel.” Mourinho added that second-half substitutions Giovani Lo Celso and Erik Lamela helped his side to victory. “In the second half, we had a great dynamic, good impact from the two players coming from the bench, very similar to Plovdiv,” he said. “I just love the player that comes from the bench with a special attitude to help the team. I think Gio and Lamela, they did that, and Sonny was on fire and, for me, Harry Kane man of the match.” Mourinho explains Ndombele substitution Ndombele, who struggled for fitness last season in his debut Spurs campaign, received backing from Mourinho last week.
