Monaco boss Niko Kovac has seemingly warned Manchester United that they will be wasting their time if they make a second bid for Benoit Badiashile.
The French club previously rejected a sizeable bid from the Red Devils for the 19-year-old and are determined to keep him.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants a new partner for Harry Maguire ahead of the new campaign. Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly and RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano have been their top targets so far.
But United have also been monitoring the impressive Badiashile. And a report in Metro claims they made a €25million (£22m) offer earlier in the summer, which was rejected.
Monaco have now made it clear that they have no plans to sell one of Ligue 1’s top young talents.
Coach Kovac told Telefoot Chaine this week: “Our aim is to take him to the next level,”
“If he plays a lot of matches with us in Ligue 1 he will improve. That is certain.
“We do not want to sell him, that is very clear, he will stay here this season. I think that this is the best solution for him.
“He has his club here, his family. He knows the environment.”
According to French outlet RMC, Monaco have told United that it would ‘take an Anthony Martial-like offer’ to convince them to part with Badiashile.
In the meantime, it appears that Upamecano represents remains Solskjaer’s main chance of landing a new partner for Maguire.
SANCHEZ MAKES STARTLING UNITED CLAIM
Manchester United flop Alexis Sanchez has sensationally admitted he wanted to leave and return to Arsenal after his first training session.
Sanchez’s two-year spell at Old Trafford was a disaster and he finally ended his time there recently after making his loan move to Inter Milan permanent.
The Chile star never found any form at United. He scored just five goals from 45 appearances before joining Inter on loan last summer.
Sanchez simply did not live up to expectations at Old Trafford after switching places with Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The forward admits he was rushed into the move and in a video on Instagram has explained his side of the story.
Sanchez said: “I accepted the opportunity to go to United. It felt tempting and it was something good for me.
“I liked this club a lot when I was a kid. Eventually I signed but I didn’t ask for information on what was happening inside the club.”
