Indeed, United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward outlined in April that such deals “ignore the realities that face the sport”. The newspaper claims that United are worried not only about spending over £100million on Sancho but also what message they would be sending. The Red Devils have already made impressive strides to help out during the crisis; the club will donate 60,000 meals to NHS workers across Manchester and Harry Maguire is a key figure in the Players Together initiative. As such, Dortmund – who are under no pressure to lower their valuation of the winger – will happily keep the 20-year-old on for another year and have reportedly begun planning for such a scenario. While United could defer their chase for Sancho for another year, it is said that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s side remain the favourites for his signature, ahead of the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool. Sancho will be back in action later this month after German chancellor Angela Merkel gave the green light on Wednesday for football in the country to start again, with no matches played since March.
