Jadon Sancho says the “sacrifice is deep” being away from family and friends, fuelling speculation he is ready to return to England this summer.
Speaking with Micah Richards and Reiss Nelson on England’s official YouTube channel, the 20-year-old admitted that life away from his loved ones is tough amid heightened speculation he is moving to Manchester United this summer.
The Borussia Dortmund man is said to pining over a return to the Premier League in order to be closer with his friends and family and he hinted as much in the chat.
Speaking about his experience at Dortmund, Sancho said: “Another challenge, this one has been the biggest one yet.
“Living abroad is a whole different game, away from everyone, family, friends. The sacrifice is deep. But, for me at the time, I just felt I was ready to challenge myself and challenge for a place in the first-team and I felt Dortmund was the right place to go at the time.
“Obviously I know their history, they’re bringing through young players and I thought I had a real chance there so I took the opportunity and now, three years later, I’m doing well.”
Twenty six goals in his last 57 Bundesliga outings have understandably drawn the attention of Europe’s heavy hitters, with a switch to Man Utd the most frequently touted scenario, though a recent interaction with Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has sparked intrigue over interest from the Reds.
However, online publication Bleacher Report recently revealed that the club have vowed not to break their transfer record in order to get the deal over the line.
The club’s record fee currently stands at the £89.3m paid to bring Paul Pogba back to Old Trafford in 2016, and British newspaper the Sun (via Bleacher Report) state that the ‘prospect of the Red Devils splashing crazy sums is unrealistic’ in the current coronavirus-affected climate.
