Arsenal star makes bizarre restaurant jibe while confessing Chelsea love Arsenal centre-half David Luiz admitted his love for Chelsea has “always been true,” and channeled his inner Eric Cantona when making a curious statement about the Gunners’ defence one year ago. The Brazilian, 32, departed Stamford Bridge for the second time last summer when he made an £8m switch across London to the Emirates. The move was met with initial scepticism, with Luiz not seen by many in the media as the answer to Arsenal’s persevering defensive woes. Despite that, Luiz has established himself as a regular at the heart of Unai Emery then Mikel Arteta’s backlines, and according to British newspaper the Sun, is on the verge of the club triggering their option to extend his stay by a further 12 months. Luiz’s heart still appears to be at Chelsea, however, with his latest comments to ESPN Brazil (via The Sun) revealing a fondness for the Blues that still remains. “I was always very happy at Chelsea,” said Luiz. “And then the understanding of knowing that my cycle was over, even though I thought it wasn’t going to end that way, in a quick decision. “I decided to leave Chelsea before I even had the door open at Arsenal.   “I know that Arsenal weren’t in a great moment, they had a weight on their defence, [when] I go there I’ll have to pay the restaurant bill without having eaten. “But I’m going because I want something new for my life, I want to learn.” Elaborating further on the transfer and Arsenal’s early season struggles, Luiz added: “It wasn’t easy at first. “Not only [in terms] of adaptation, but about taking the criticism, the sadness of many Chelsea fans for not understanding my personal decisions. “My respect and love for Chelsea has always been true. “It was difficult to deal with the emotional part, then playing, things were not happening on the pitch, the results weren’t coming. “Unai is a great coach and a great person, but things weren’t happening for him either. So you get into a stir and try to stay upright and strong. “And I often wondered why this decision was made. Why is this happening?” Meanwhile, Arsenal’s hopes of nabbing a €25m midfield ace have been rocked by interest from an Italian heavyweight.   The post Arsenal star makes bizarre restaurant jibe while confessing Chelsea love appeared first on teamtalk.com. - SPORT BETTING

Arsenal centre-half David Luiz admitted his love for Chelsea has “always been true,” and channeled his inner Eric Cantona when making a curious statement about the Gunners’ defence one year ago.

“But I’m going because I want something new for my life, I want to learn.”

Elaborating further on the transfer and Arsenal’s early season struggles, Luiz added: “It wasn’t easy at first.

Why is this happening?”

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s hopes of nabbing a €25m midfield ace have been rocked by interest from an Italian heavyweight.
