Arsenal could be set for a lengthy transfer battle if they are to secure the services of an Olympiacos midfield general after Italian powerhouse AC Milan entered the equation.
Holding midfield has been a constant point of consternation for Arsenal over the past few years.
Granit Xhaka endured a torrid time with the supporters after his antics after being substituted, while Lucas Torreira failed to have the impact many predicted he would make on the Premier League.
Matteo Guendouzi has impressed, though frequently found himself on the bench since Mikel Arteta replaced fellow Spaniard Unai Emery in December of last year.
One potential addition the Gunners could make to shore up their engine room would be Olympiacos enforcer Mady Camara.
The 23-year-old Guinea international has impressed in the Greek top flight, with his eye for goal with 8 strikes in 46 league appearances complementing his all-action displays in the middle.
British newspaper the Daily Star cite Greek reports earlier in the week that reveal Arsenal ‘made enquiries over a €25m (£21.7m) move for Camara.’
However, Italian outlet Calciomercato have noted Serie A giant AC Milan have registered their interest in the man Olympiacos are described as likely to ‘struggle to keep hold of.’
Camara’s agent is quoted by the Italian publication as being fully aware of the blossoming interest in his client.
“Many European clubs have shown great interest in Mady,” he said.
“But we want to see first how the season will end with Olympiacos.
“At the moment he is happy in Athens and wants to win trophies before making any choice.
“There is not a favourite country or league to go to because the main issue for him is to play in a great team, continue to improve and win titles. This can happen in Italy as in England or Germany.
“Valued at 25 million euros? With the crisis that is affecting the whole world and not only football, we cannot know what the budget of the clubs will be, but they will probably go down. So today it is difficult to say a price.”
