Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho was open to joining any other club last summer, with a report claiming that he had given the green light to a move to Tottenham.
Coutinho, who moved to Barcelona from Liverpool in January 2018, failed to live up to expectations in Catalonia in his first season-and-a-half and was sent out on loan to Bayern Munich last summer.
The Brazil international has enjoyed a mixed run of form with the German champions this term, scoring nine goals and assisting eight others but making only 22 appearances.
According to Spanish publication Sport, Coutinho was desperate to move away from Barcelona and had at one stage accepted a move to Tottenham.
However, negotiations reportedly broke down, which could have led Spurs to move for the initial loan signing of Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis.
As for where Coutinho‘s future lies after his loan spell with Bayern, he is reportedly comfortable at Bayern but understands that a permanent move to the Bundesliga looks unlikely if Bayern are unwilling to splash out for his services.
Otherwise, he would be open to a return to Barcelona if no other solution can be found, but another loan move is said to be the most likely option.
Coutinho spent five years at Liverpool and was a key figure under both Brendan Rodgers and Jurgen Klopp.
In other news, serious doubts have reportedly emerged about Liverpool’s move for Kai Havertz.
Havertz, 20, has become one of European football’s most exciting talents after his stunning form since the start of last season.
