Chelsea join Man Utd, Inter in chase for £23m Serie A defensive star Chelsea are reportedly keeping tabs on Hellas Verona ace Marash Kumbulla but face competition from several European rivals for the young defender. A report in the Daily Express claims that the Blues are just one of numerous top clubs in for the youngster, with both Manchester United and Inter Milan also keen on the 20-year-old. Kumbulla has enjoyed an impressive breakthrough campaign in Serie A, making 18 senior appearances for Hellas this term. The defender has been a mainstay in the newly-promoted side’s defence, helping Ivan Juric’s men to a surprise eighth place in the table and leading to plenty of interest in his services. PassioneInter claims that Inter are favourites to sign the promising young star, with Antonio Conte ready to splash out €25million (£23m) on the Albian international. The report adds that Hellas are already resigned to losing their prized asset but have set a price that they believe could lead to a potential bidding war. Fellow Serie A sides Lazio and Napoli are also interested, with the latter said to have had a January offer turned down by the player over personal terms. Meanwhile, there is significant interest from England and Germany, with RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, joining United, Manchester City and Chelsea in the hunt for Kumbulla. Kumbulla can play centrally or on the left side of a back three and although far from being the finished product, he has done enough this season to tempt clubs into making potential summer moves for his services.     Indeed, Kumbulla, who is contracted until 2022, fits the profile of Chelsea’s current squad – with Frank Lampard bringing youth players through into the senior set-up. Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, Reece James and Billy Gilmour have all broken into the first team this season while Fikayo Tomori and Callum Hudson-Odoi are also academy graduates with big futures at Stamford Bridge. But with several experienced stars tipped to be sold this summer, Chelsea have already begun their summer rebuild by bringing in Hakim Ziyech, while the club have also been linked with the likes of Ben Chilwell, Alex Telles, Marc Cucurella, Moussa Dembele and Lautaro Martinez. Meanwhile, Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho is attracting interest from Chelsea, according to a report in Spain.
