Kruse signed a three-year contract with Turkish giants Fenerbahce last month, but Jurgen Klopp was indeed interested in him. “During the transfer period, I’ve received lots of offers and one of them was Liverpool,” Kruse revealed to Bein Sports Turkey. “But I decided to join Fenerbahce because I believe I will be very happy there. I spoke with a lot of players during that period and I am happy about my decision.” It had even been claimed that Klopp had personally called Kruse in an effort to convince him to sign for Liverpool, but those attempts were in vain. Liverpool may end up not signing a striker at all, with many – including England winger Jadon Sancho – feeling youngster Rhian Brewster is ready to be integrated into the first team after a successful pre-season.
