Now, L’Equipe claim that the reason it has taken so long for Gueye’s move to go through is because of interest from Manchester United. Having grown frustrated in their efforts to sign £50m-rated Sean Longstaff from Newcastle, Man Utd began to consider alternatives in their search for a replacement for Ander Herrera – and Gueye’s name was suggested. Gueye is reported to have given serious thought to the move, hence the delays, but has opted to join PSG – where he will sign a five-year contract – instead.
