Understandably, Bale’s reported £600,000 per week wages are a major stumbling block for all but a few of Europe’s leading clubs, leading to speculation of a number of loan possibilities – moves that could entice either Manchester United or Tottenham into a deal. Barnett, however, has put an end to any loan speculation by announcing to Sky Sports News that: “There will be no makeshift deals to get him out of the club. “Gareth is one of the best players on the planet. I can guarantee you he will not be going on loan to any club.” With Bale unlikely to be willing to take a significant pay cut, the possible landing spots for the 30-year-old seem to be dwindling by the day if an escape via the loan route is no longer an option. “Gareth is a Real Madrid player and for now he’s staying as a Real Madrid player,” said Barnett. “If something comes along that suits us, then things could change and he could be gone in a day or a week. Or he could still be a Real player in three years when his contract ends.” Jiangsu Suning and Beijing Guoan are two of the Chinese clubs that have registered interest in acquiring the four-time Champions League winner, with the former recently following Bale on Instagram, but time appears to be against them as the Chinese transfer window closes in eight days’ time on July 31. One club who may yet enter the fray are Bayern Munich. The German powerhouse’s attentions may shift to Bale as a potential replacement to departed wingers Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben should their pursuit of Manchester City’s Leroy Sane fail to materialise.
