Four names have been mentioned as Newcastle look for a new boss, while Man Utd look set to turn to other defensive targets, according to Thursday’s papers.
MAGUIRE CHASE DOWN TO ONE
Manchester United have decided to pull out of the race to land Harry Maguire this summer due to his colossal £100m price tag, a report claims.
The Foxes are reportedly willing to sell Maguire this summer if any club matches their huge asking price, while they are already believed to be lining up replacements.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to solve the team’s defensive problems before the start of pre-season training on July 1, but that is looking more unlikely by the day.
Recent reports suggested that the Red Devils are willing to spend just £40m on the England international, which is just half of what Leicester apparently value him at.
City have always been mentioned as a potential suitor for Maguire as they look to replace the influential Vincent Kompany, and now it appears they have a clear path to sign the England man.
According to the Daily Mirror and the Daily Star, United have made it clear that they have no intention of meeting Leicester’s huge £100m demands.
City boss Pep Guardiola on the other hand has not ruled his side out of signing the centre-half, but they are only willing to pay £65m as they aim to give Aymeric Laporte a new partner.
