Chelsea starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi has turned his back on a departure and will sign a five-year contract with the club, according to reports.
Bayern Munich have long been credited with an interest in the player, who was swayed by the links and tried to force through an exit in January. Chelsea turned down an offer of £40m for the teenager, who is entering the final year of his contract – while the Mirror state that the Bundesliga champions launched a fresh bid today, only to be rejected again.
It now looks increasingly likely that Hudson-Odoi will stay at Chelsea – and the Metro claim that the potential arrival of Frank Lampard as manager has played a big part in helping the winger change his mind.
Per the report, Hudson-Odoi is confident he will be given more playing time by the Blues legend, who has been given permission by current club Derby County to speak to the Stamford Bridge hierarchy over the vacant role following Maurizio Sarri’s appointment at Juventus. Furthermore, he maintains a good relationship with Lampard’s assistant, former Chelsea youth coach Jody Morris.
Therefore, a new five-year deal is in line for Hudson-Odoi, who made his senior England debut earlier this year and will reportedly be given the number 10 shirt vacated by new Real Madrid man Eden Hazard.
When Hudson-Odoi does put pen to paper, Bayern Munich’s attention could turn to Manchester City’s Leroy Sane, who has been talked up by a number of key figures at the Bavarian club, or failing that, Liverpool target Ousmane Dembele.
