Paper Talk: Man Utd move for two £75m alternatives as Koulibaly demands scare them off; Bayern in talks over Man City star Manchester United are ready to end their efforts to sign Kalidou Koulibaly due to the costs involved and instead try for two alternatives, while Bayern Munich are in talks to sign an unsettled Manchester City star, according to Wednesday’s newspapers.   KOULIBALY PACKAGE TOO MUCH FOR MAN UTD Manchester United are ready to bin their efforts to sign Kalidou Koulibably this summer after Napoli refused to accept a penny less than £90m for the defender. The 27-year-old remains United’s top central defensive target this summer and it was reported on Tuesday that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side were ready to make an £80m approach for the Senegal powerhouse. But, according to the Independent, Napoli have responded by informing United that they have no need to sell and any deal for the centre-half will set them back a world-record defender fee of £90m, which together with his salary over a potential four-year deal would cost the club a figure in the region of £150m. Now the paper claims United will instead move for Harry Maguire in the belief they can persuade Leicester to do business for a fee nearer £70m. That would still represent a sizeable investment for United, but the package for the England man – if they can persuade the Foxes to do business – is seen by club bosses as less of a risk. Maguire, however, may have to ask for a move in order to push through a move to Old Trafford, given Leicester’s unwillingness to sell. Failure to sign Maguire will see United target Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar. The 24-year-old, however, has given those rumours short shrift. It’s also claimed United will bring Aston Villa loanee Axel Tuanzebe back into the fold next season after being impressed by his displays for the Villans.   Get the latest personalised Red Devils products on our new TEAMtalk Man Utd shop!   AND THE REST Bayern Munich have opened discussions with Manchester City over the potential summer transfer of Leroy Sane (Daily Record) Gareth Bale will snub a potential return to Spurs and is not rushing to come back to the Premier League (Daily Mirror) Anthony Martial’s Manchester United future is secure – because the forward is viewed as the club’s “Pele” by co-chairman Joel Glazer (Daily Mirror) Manchester United could be forced to pay Alexis Sanchez £12m next season not to play for them (Daily Mirror) Liverpool have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Sandro Tonali after the Brescia youngster suggested he’s more likely to remain in Italy this summer (Daily Mirror) Craig Bellamy will lose his position as Cardiff academy coach after an investigation into bullying claims against him (Daily Mail) Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero will be part of Argentina’s provisional squad for the Copa America, two sources from the country’s soccer body said on Tuesday (Daily Mail) Andy Carroll is ready to embark on a gruelling training regime away from England this summer in a bid to resurrect his injury-plagued career (Daily Mail) Arsenal started planning a Europa League victory parade before they reached the quarter-finals (Daily Mail) Peter Beardsley will play in the Hong Kong Soccer Sevens alongside Newcastle U23s this week with the FA yet to confirm a date for his hearing into charges of racism against academy players (Daily Mail) Premier League managers and captains will be warned in pre-season players who make the VAR hand gesture to officials will receive yellow cards (Daily Mail) Furious Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told his Manchester United players he aims to get rid of half the team after the 2-0 loss to Cardiff (The Sun) Manchester City believe there is a campaign by Europe’s elite, including local rivals United, to bring them down (The Sun) Eden Hazard fears Chelsea’s transfer ban will leave his £100m dream move to Real Madrid in tatters (The Sun) A planned Tube strike this weekend has been called off in news that will delight Manchester City and Watford fans (The Sun) Celtic whizkid Karamoko Dembele could make his senior debut this weekend (The Sun) Gareth Southgate will select Harry Kane in his squad for next month’s Nations League after receiving assurances that the England captain will be fit to play in Portugal (The Guardian) Manchester City are poised for further talks with Oleksandr Zinchenko over a new contract (Daily Telegraph) Ruben Neves has dropped a massive hint he’s ready to stick around at Wolves (Daily Star) Rafa Benitez has told wantaway midfielder Isaac Hayden if he does leave this summer, it will be on Newcastle’s terms (Daily Star)   The post Paper Talk: Man Utd move for two £75m alternatives as Koulibaly demands scare them off; Bayern in talks over Man City star appeared first on teamtalk.com. - SPORT BETTING
