Spurs are chasing a Real Madrid outcast with a huge release clause, while Liverpool are in the market for Sadio Mane’s replacement, according to Wednesday’s European papers.
LIVERPOOL STILL CHASING FORMER MAN UTD FLOP
Liverpool are considering making a move for star Lyon winger Memphis Depay this summer, according to a report.
The 25-year-old Dutch winger struggled to nail down a regular starting spot during his ill-fated spell at Old Trafford, but that hasn’t put him off the idea of coming back to England to prove himself again.
Memphis has had no difficulties in adapting to life in France’s Ligue 1, scoring 35 goals in 106 games for Lyon, who he joined from United in 2017.
He is under contract there until 2021, but has admitted he would like to make the step up to a bigger club, and and he has previously been linked with a move to Anfield.
The most recent report states that Depay is now valued at £50million and is eager to leave Ligue 1 in order to play in one of Europe’s elite leagues again
Liverpool’s interest comes off the back of Real Madrid’s pursuit of Sadio Mane, and while Jurgen Klopp has no intention of selling his star winger, there is a fear that he may choose to force the issue.
As a result, Anfield chiefs have been tasked with finding a replacement should Mane depart for the Bernabeu, despite speculation suggesting Florentino Perez has baulked at his €200m asking price.
