Fans will be able to watch BT Sport’s coverage of the all-English Champions League and Europa League finals for free via its app, Virgin channel 532 or the BT Sport YouTube channel.
The move is a repeat of the last two seasons, when the pay-TV broadcaster also made the finals of Europe’s club competitions available to non-customers, a move which brought in an audience of nearly 8.5million for last year’s Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid.
That figure will almost certainly be beaten this year as Liverpool meet Tottenham in Europe’s premier club competition at 8pm on Saturday, June 1, three days after Chelsea play Arsenal in the Europa League at 8pm on Wednesday, May 29.
Viewers who use the app, which works on mobiles and larger devices, will be able to watch in 360-degree virtual reality, while BT Sport customers can watch the Champions League final in high-definition high-dynamic range.
Coverage of the Champions League final at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium in Madrid begins at 6pm, when host Gary Lineker will be joined by Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Glenn Hoddle, Jermaine Jenas, Michael Owen and Steve McManaman.
Presenter Jake Humphrey will be joined in Baku by Martin Keown, Cesc Fabregas and Eidur Gudjohnsen for coverage of the Europa League Final, which starts at 6.30pm.
