Boss Maurizio Sarri seems to have largely frozen him out, with the 33-year-old club captain having not made a matchday squad since Boxing Day. According to a report from The Sun, a team meeting was called at the club’s Cobham HQ following their 6-0 defeat at Man City to discuss all issues within the squad. One of the problems that was apparently highlighted was a lack of leadership, with some squad members ‘stunned’ at Cahill’s exclusion. He has had a glittering career at Stamford Bridge, with two Premier League titles, the Champions League and the Europa League all on his CV during a seven-year spell at Chelsea.
