AURELIEN TCHOUAMENI OPENS UP ON LIVERPOOL LINKS
Liverpool have reportedly opened talks over a deal to sign Aurelien Tchouameni this summer.
The Reds are seemingly making plans for the summer, despite standing on the brink of a record-breaking season. With the Carabao Cup in the bag, they are pushing hard for Premier League glory. They also face Chelsea in the FA Cup final and Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
And talismanic forward Mohamed Salah certainly has revenge in mind when it comes to the latter.
Jurgen Klopp, however, will know that no successful team ever stands still and is always looking to better themselves.
With that in mind, the Daily Express claims the Reds are in talks with Monaco over a deal for Tchouameni.
The 22-year-old midfielder is regarded as one of French football’s brightest young stars, drawing comparisons with Paul Pogba.
And given Jordan Henderson and Thiago, both 31, and James Milner, 36, are now in the autumn of their careers, it’s little wonder to see Liverpool planning new additions there.
Any deal for Tchouameni will not come cheap, however.
While Monaco are willing to sell, they are reportedly seeking a fee of around £59m. Real Madrid and Manchester United are also seemingly keen.
However, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has talked up Liverpool’s interest.
Tchouameni opens up on transfer links
The midfielder himself has also opened up about his future.
Contracted to 2024, the midfielder does appear content where he is for the time being.
“I am contracted here until 2024 with the option until 2025. We’ll see what the future has in store for me,” he said. “The transfer window is always a period where lots of things can happen. There is my personal case, but there are cases for lots of other players who are out of contract or who perhaps have desires elsewhere.”
Asked if Champions League football for Monaco will play a part, Tchouameni added: “Yeah, why not? The elimination last year stuck in my throat. Playing Champions League football with Monaco isn’t something that would displease me.”
RAPHINHA CUT-PRICE DEAL FEARS FOR LEEDS
Leeds United are fearful of losing Raphinha for much less than their valuation this summer, claims a report.
The Brazilian star has showcased his talents this season during a season of struggle for Leeds.
While the winger has suffered a dip in form in recent months, Raphinha still has 10 goals and three assists from 30 Premier League starts.
But with Leeds struggling to stay in the Premier League, Barcelona are looking to pounce.
Their interest in the Brazilian star is widely documented, with the 25-year-old strongly linked in recent months.
Leeds United value Raphinha at around the £50m mark.
However, demotion to the second tier could see Barca signing him for just £25m.
As per the Daily Telegraph, a relegation clause in Raphinha’s deal can see him move for around 50% of his market value.
That would serve as a double blow to Leeds, in the event they suffer the drop back to the Championship.
Leeds currently sit on 34 points with four games left to play. Everton in 18th are two points behind, having played a game less than United.
FOUR CLUBS ON TRAIL OF JESSE LINGARD
Jesse Lingard will pick from four clubs this summer as he prepares to say goodbye to Manchester United.
The England man is just weeks away from becoming a free agent and following a frustrating season at Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old has been scarcely-used by United and was this week denied the chance to say goodbye to supporters. It was something that did not sit well with Lingard.
And with Lingard entering free-agent territory, the player finds himself very much a man in demand.
As such, the Daily Mail reports there are three big-name European suitors looking to sign him.
They write that both Juventus and AC Milan are offering Lingard an exciting move to Serie A.
But it seems PSG are also on his trail and the chance to move to Ligue 1 also looks highly tempting.
However, Newcastle are also willing to offer Lingard the chance to resurrect his career on Tyneside.
Eddie Howe’s side are upwardly mobile after flirting with relegation and will be looking to push into the upper echelons of the Premier League next season.
