Erik ten Hag is willing to give two struggling Manchester United players one more chance to impress, according to a report.
The 52-year-old will move to Old Trafford at the end of the season, where he will take over from Ralf Rangnick. And some major chances could take place at the club.
Manchester United are reportedly willing to pay £12million to get Anthony Martial off their books. The forward is currently on loan at Sevilla but will have no place in the United squad when he returns.
The Red Devils could also let £50m right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka re-join Crystal Palace. Several other big-name stars are in line to go, too.
The Sun provide an update on Ten Hag’s thinking ahead of his arrival at the Theatre of Dreams this summer.
They claim the Dutchman will offer two United players last chances to impress after several disappointing months in the famous red shirt.
The first is England attacker Marcus Rashford. He has been poor in front of goal this season, notching just five goals in 32 appearances so far.
Rashford’s last Premier League goal came in the 1-0 win over West Ham back in January.
Despite this, Arsenal are reportedly ready to make an offer for him. Football Insider state the Gunners have set aside £45m to land Rashford after making him a ‘leading target’.
In response to this, Ten Hag has told the 24-year-old he does still have a future at United.
Rashford will get one last chance to impress the club’s hierarchy by performing a key role in the first few months of Ten Hag’s tenure.
Erik ten Hag offers Man Utd duo a chance
Should he perform well, then this will boost his chances of making Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup.
United team-mate and compatriot Jesse Lingard will be given an opportunity by Ten Hag, too.
The attacking midfielder enjoyed a great six-month loan spell with West Ham last term. But since returning to United he has once again become a bench warmer.
Lingard has managed 355 minutes in the league during 2021-22. That amounts to less than four full matches.
But like Rashford, Lingard is in line to receive more starts in Ten Hag’s new era. He will need to snatch this opportunity if he is to get his career at the highest level back on track.
