Manchester United face some big hurdles if they are to land Sebastien Haller and Kalvin Phillips, Arsenal are looking to swap Pablo Mari for an Udinese star, while Thursday’s Paper Talk claims Burnley are pushing hard for Wayne Rooney.
MAN UTD FACE COMPETITION FOR SEBASTIEN HALLER
Manchester United will likely face strong competition from two German giants if they are to land Sebastien Haller this summer.
Erik ten Hag is preparing to take charge and is ready to make wholesale changes to his squad. United are under-performing badly this season and it will be down to Ten Hag to find the winning formula.
Straight up, as many as 11 players could be departing this summer with four out-of-contract stars leading the way.
And Ten Hag may look to pep up his attack by bringing in Ajax charge Sebastein Haller in a £35m deal.
He was mentioned as a leading fancy for United on Wednesday, with the former West Ham man emerging as one of Ten Hag’s top targets.
However, United will not have it all their own way if they want to land Haller.
That’s according to The Sun, who claim Haller is also on Borussia Dortmund’s wanted list.
They are looking for a new striker to replace Erling Haaland this summer and it seems Ivory Coast international Haller fits the bill.
Furthermore, Bayern Munich are also considering an approach of their own. That’s after Goal claimed Haller is on their list of targets to replace Robert Lewandowski.
Although the Pole looks set to sign an extension, Haller could still be signed as a long-term successor for the 33-year-old.
As such, Ten Hag seemingly is facing a battle to land the £35m-rated striker.
Man Utd also want Kalvin Phillips
Manchester United are also readying a £50m approach for Kalvin Phillips, as per The Athletic.
Any move for the midfielder will be highly-controversial given his strong Leeds United connections.
But the England midfielder is firmly on Ten Hag’s radar with a report claiming that Ralf Rangnick also approves.
However, there remains doubts Phillips will actually make the move to the Red Devils.
The 26-year-old is well aware of the controversey any move would create. And he may yet opt to sign a new deal to stay with his hometown club.
Should the move for Phillips fail, United will reportedly instead target Ruben Neves.
ARSENAL WANT UDINESE RIGHT-BACK NAHUEL MOLINA
Arsenal are firmly in pursuit of Udinese right-back Nahuel Molina, according to reports.
The full-back is on their wanted list as they prepare to wave farewell to long-serving Hector Bellerin.
He’s on loan at Real Betis this season after losing his way under Mikel Arteta.
And while Takehiro Tomiyasu has done exceptionally well, his injury means the Gunners have been using Cedric Soares.
And while he too has done OK, Arteta wants another man brought in as a quality addition.
Now, as per The Sun, they are hot on the trail of Molina.
The 24-year-old Argentine is also reportedly on Juventus and Atletico Madrid’s radar.
But it is Arsenal who seemingly have the upper hand.
They will reportedly use Pablo Mari as part of a swap deal. The Spaniard has been on loan with the Serie A side this season and has recently made it clear his intentions of staying.
As such, the Gunners will reportedly contact the Italians over a potential swap deal.
WAYNE ROONEY FAVOURITE FOR BURNLEY JOB
Burnley are pushing for the appointment of Wayne Rooney with the England legend now their No 1 choice to succeed Sean Dyche.
Dyche departed his position earlier this month after 10 years in the Turf Moor hotseat.
His exit sparked widespread unhappiness among the Clarets faithful, with Dyche having done a stellar job.
However, his replacement Mike Jackson – part of Dyche’s coaching staff – has done a miraculous job since.
And their return to form has given them a real shot of Premier League survival.
Regardless of whether they stay up though, The Sun claims Rooney is now Burnley‘s top target to take on the job.
England’s record goalscorer has done a fantastic job himself under hugely-challenging conditions at Derby.
Despite their relegation to the third tier, Rooney has earned credit for making Derby competitive despite starting the season without a full side.
Furthermore, he’s also earned plaudits for standing by them in the wake of interest from both Everton and Man Utd.
