Marsch reveals season-ending training injury for key Leeds star and says he is in unprecedented place Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has revealed that midfielder Adam Forshaw has suffered a season-ending knee injury in training. The Whites have endured a tough season on the injury front, with several stars spending time out. Some absences, such as those for Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford, have proved more crucial than others. Nevertheless, Leeds have felt all their injury woes have an impact on their form. The situation has improved slightly in recent weeks. Midfielder Phillips has returned and Bamford is on the way back from a foot issue, but Marsch has now revealed more bad news. Indeed, Phillips’ regular midfield partner Forshaw‘s season is over after an impact injury in training. Marsch told a press conference on Friday: “We had an unfortunate injury with Adam Forshaw two days ago. He was back in training and he took a knock in a collision on his knee cap and unfortunately he fractured the knee cap. “It’s a six-week injury so that puts him out for the season and, obviously, the main thing is that Adam is one of the guys in the teams that gives more to the group and does everything he can to think about the team first. “So, for us, it’s obviously painful because he’s an important guy but we will still have him around and he will still be a big part of the group in the next weeks. “We will still need his presence in the team and it should be a relatively straightforward recovery and, by the summer, he’ll be back and ready to go. Adam’s been an incredible leader and an incredible player since the moment I stepped in the door.” In other injury news, Marsch said that Bamford will return to outside training next week. The manager is “cautiously optimistic” that the striker will return for the final two games of the season. Tyler Roberts is “doing okay”, but is not ready to return on Monday against Crystal Palace. Leeds are back in action after a two-week break, following Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final win over the Eagles last weekend. Marsch lauds Leeds adaptation Their last game was therefore the 3-0 away win at Watford, which moved them further away from the Premier League’s relegation zone. While Leeds have work to do to secure their status, former RB Leipzig boss Marsch has lauded his current squad for making a career first for him. “I said to the group they are ahead of schedule for me,” Marsch said. “We have changed the way we train, the tactics, the way we interact here, my leadership style. “I can only say have never had a group adapted more than this one. It’s a big compliment to the group we have here. “I’m personally excited for the game on Monday, the guys are ready.” On Crystal Palace and Patrick Vieira, he added: “Good opponents, but they’ve done a good job of staying in the moment and going step by step. “I have a lot of respect for Palace, a cup semi-final, a lot of quality players. They’re dangerous in one vs one and in transition. Really good coach. Palace is a tough place to play.” Leeds sit in 16th in the table ahead of their return to action. They can go a point behind 14th-placed Palace with a win.   The post Marsch reveals season-ending training injury for key Leeds star and says he is in unprecedented place appeared first on TEAMtalk. - SPORT BETTING

Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch has revealed that midfielder Adam Forshaw has suffered a season-ending knee injury in training.

Adam’s been an incredible leader and an incredible player since the moment I stepped in the door.”

In other injury news, Marsch said that Bamford will return to outside training next week.

Marsch lauds Leeds adaptation

Their last game was therefore the 3-0 away win at Watford, which moved them further away from the Premier League’s relegation zone.

“I’m personally excited for the game on Monday, the guys are ready.”

On Crystal Palace and Patrick Vieira, he added: “Good opponents, but they’ve done a good job of staying in the moment and going step by step.

“I have a lot of respect for Palace, a cup semi-final, a lot of quality players. They’re dangerous in one vs one and in transition. Really good coach. Palace is a tough place to play.”

Leeds sit in 16th in the table ahead of their return to action. They can go a point behind 14th-placed Palace with a win.
