Incoming Roma boss Jose Mourinho is looking to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window, with a Wolves star reportedly on his radar.
The Portuguese boss will take over the Serie A giants at the end of the season. Mourinho was sacked by Tottenham in April after a poor run of form since the turn of the year. However, he did not have long to wait in his search for a new club after Roma came calling.
Several Spurs stars, including Eric Dier, have already been linked with a switch to Italy. But it would appear that signing a new goalkeeper is high on Mourinho’s agenda.
According to Calciomercato, Sergio Romero and Yann Sommer are in the frame. The Gialorossi have also been linked with a move for veteran stopper Gigi Buffon, who has confirmed he will leave Juventus at the end of the season.
However, the report also states that Mourinho has identified Rui Patricio from Wolves as a possible target.
The 33-year-old has been an outstanding presence in the Wolves team since joining the club in 2018. He has made 35 Premier League appearances this season, keeping 10 clean sheets.
The Portugal international’s current contract runs out in 2022. And the report adds that Roma hope to sign him for around €10million (£8.6m).
Patricio is not the only Wolves man linked with a switch to Roma, with Ruben Vinagre also mentioned as a potential target.

Wolves target West Brom loan star
Meanwhile, reports claim Galatasaray want just £8million for West Brom loan star Mbaye Diagne and plenty of clubs are interested in the forward.
The 29-year-old moved to the Hawthorns on January 29 and made his Albion debut the following day. It was the seventh loan spell of his career but he could do nothing to prevent the Baggies suffering relegation. That was confirmed on Sunday when they went down 3-1 to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
It was thought that the West Midlanders were keen to sign the Senegal international on a permanent basis. But, as Sam Allardyce revealed earlier this year, he, along with fellow loanee Okay Yokuslu, wants to play in the top flight.
“They want to play their football in the Premier League and in England,” he told Sky Sports. “Whether they’d consider that drop down to the Championship, I’m not sure.”
It seems unlikely the African will entertain the idea of remaining in the Black Country. Unless he decides to sign for Wolves.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side is one of the clubs linked to the Dakar-born ace. Crystal Palace and Watford have also been mentioned in connection with he player.
And Football Insider are reporting that Galatasaray are willing to do business at around the £8m mark. That looks a tempting price for a player who has scored 111 goals from 211 appearances in his career.
Diagne has started 14 of his 15 league appearances for West Brom, notching three goals. He has scored against Manchester United, Chelsea and Wolves and impressed in a struggling team.
