Everton have reportedly sent ‘a proposal’ to Juventus star Juan Cuadrado as manager Carlo Ancelotti looks to strengthen his squad this summer.
The Toffees have enjoyed a solid Premier League campaign and sit eighth in the table with four games to go. They are still in with a chance of qualifying for Europe and have a game in hand on many clubs above them. Regardless of whether they do make the Europa League, Ancelotti will look to strengthen.
And he is said to be a ‘great admirer’ of the Colombia international. Cuadrado, who spent an unsuccessful short stint with Chelsea in 2015, will be out of contract with Juve next summer.
And Fichajes.net (via Sport Witness) are suggesting a renewal is not on the cards. Therefore, to avoid losing him for nothing in 12 months time, the Old Lady will listen to offers this summer.
The former Fiorentina ace will be 33 later this month and the Turin outfit are not asking for a king’s ransom. The South American is reportedly available for less than €15m.
That price has been deemed a ‘bargain’ for a player that Andrea Pirlo wants to get off the books. And the website are suggesting that Everton have already been in touch about bringing him to Goodison Park before next season.
Versatility a key component in Cuadrado arsenal
While he is entering the twilight years of his career, Cuadrado is not quite pensionable just yet. And his ability to play in many positions makes him a manager’s dream.
The man with 94 Colombia caps is equally comfortable at full-back, in midfield or as a right-winger. Never really a regular goalscorer, he has 48 from 428 appearances throughout his career.
But he has been a regular starter for Juventus during a trophy-laden period. The former Udinese star has started 102 Serie A games from 157 appearances.
Should he leave the Juventus Stadium this summer, he will exit with the memory of winning the title on five occasions. The Necocli-born star has also lifted the Coppa Italia three times.
It remains to be seen if Merseyside is his next destination as other clubs are certain to show an interest. The relatively low fee involved means he will have many suitors when the dust settles on the current campaign.
But the fact that compatriot James Rodriguez is an Everton player might be a factor working in their favour.
