West Ham lining up bargain bid for red-hot Championship keeper Reports claim West Ham United are pondering a move for Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Seny Dieng in the summer transfer window. Dieng, 26, has been on the Rangers books since 2016. But he had never made an appearance for the west Londoners prior to this season. The Senegal international had enjoyed many loan stints away from the Kiyan Prince Foundation Stadium. He has played for non-league clubs Whitehawk and Hampton & Richmond Borough. And the Swiss-born shot-stopper has also featured for Stevenage, Dundee and Doncaster Rovers. It may have seemed as though his Hoops chances were over but Mark Warburton has handed him an opportunity this term. And the much-travelled keeper has taken it with both hands. He has started 37 of QPR’s 40 Championship matches and helped them to 11th in the standings. His displays between the posts have not gone unnoticed and there was interest in January. Arsenal, Leeds United and Crystal Palace were all thought to be keen in the winter window. And the Hammers are said to have joined his long list of admirers, according to The Sun. David Moyes has been tipped to make a move in the summer as he looks to shape his squad for the future. Dieng to shadow Fabianski? Lukasz Fabianski is the man Moyes currently trusts with the gloves at the London Stadium. The Poland international is in his third season with West Ham but, at 35, cannot go on for ever. Therefore, the Scottish tactician will already be planning for his successor and Dieng could be the man. Fabianski will be out of contract at the end of next season. And that could mean Dieng acting as back-up in 2021-2022 while gaining some first-team experience. He has three years left on his Rangers deal but could be available for as little as £6million. That would represent decent business for West Ham, with finances tight during the pandemic. West Ham are enjoying a superb season and have a genuine chance of qualifying for the Champions League. They sit sixth in the table but will return to the top four with victory over Leicester on Sunday. Whatever happens between now and May 23, the East End outfit is clearly a club moving in the right direction. And that will help with summer recruitment. There will be some big-name moves in the off-season but Dieng could be the bargain of the summer if a deal can be done.
