Talks scheduled as agent backtracks on Chelsea midfielder’s future The agent of Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has appeared to backtrack on comments about a return to Serie A and hinted at a new contract for the Italy international. Agent Jorge Santos recently refused to rule out a return to Napoli for his client. Jorginho has been an important player for Chelsea but has often divided opinion. Despite his prominent current role in Thomas Tuchel’s system, an exit has been touted. Santos said last week that they would think about going back to Serie A if he was to leave Chelsea. A return to Napoli would be particularly interesting for them. There appears to be no such possibility, though, of either a move to Napoli or any other Serie A side. Santos has now reversed his comments by claiming that Jorginho could in fact renew his contract at Stamford Bridge. Santos told Tuttomercatoweb:”He has two years of contract with Chelsea. He thinks about playing at the Euros, and then the World Cup in Qatar. “He will stay at Chelsea, 100 per cent. A renewal? It will be spoken about in a few months.” Jorginho’s current deal with the Blues lasts until 2023, by which time he will be 31 years old. But it seems he is ready to prolong that adventure further. The no.5 has made 126 appearances for Chelsea since joining in 2018. He has scored 16 goals in that time. He only needs one more goal this season to record his best-ever scoring tally in a single campaign. Despite missing out on the latest Italy squad, Jorginho remains in his national team’s plans and would not need to return to Serie A to boost his chances. Indeed, Roberto Mancini recently said the only reason he was left at home for this international break was to regain his fitness after a couple of injuries. Jorginho enjoying life under Tuchel The Brazilian-born player seems to be thriving under the management of Tuchel, who replaced Frank Lampard in late January. Indeed, Jorginho was praiseworthy of his new boss when speaking to Globo Esporte recently. In quotes translated by Sport Witness, the 29-year-old said that the whole Chelsea squad have been kept on their toes due to Tuchel’s tendency to swap and change his players. It increases competitiveness even in training, because we cannot relax; we need to be at our maximum physical level, be concentrated, always up there. “If you let your guard down, you can stay out of one or two games, because the other players will be focused there.” READ MORE: Chelsea target opens door to rivals after admitting he’s a fan The post Talks scheduled as agent backtracks on Chelsea midfielder’s future appeared first on TEAMtalk. - SPORT BETTING
