Roy Keane claims Man Utd goalscorer was ‘dreadful’ against Tottenham Roy Keane thought that Fred was “dreadful” in Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur, despite the midfielder getting on the scoresheet. Man Utd came from behind to claim three points at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The comeback was set in motion by a rare goal from Fred, who scored for the first time this season. However, former United midfielder Keane remained critical of the Brazilian in his analysis. Fred struggled to live up to his price tag after a big-money move from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018. However, he has had a greater influence this season. The 28-year-old has been entrusted with 22 starts in the Premier League this season. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has often used him to provide balance in the team’s midfield. However, Sky Sports pundit Keane was still unimpressed by the midfielder in Sunday’s win. “It’s just as well Fred scored because I thought he was dreadful,” Keane said. “I don’t know what people are talking about saying that he played well; I thought he was dreadful. “It’s good link-up play [for the equaliser], quick play, quick one-two around the box. Fred on the spot, I even thought he was going to miss that.” Keane had a differing view about one of the other goalscorers, Edinson Cavani, though. The striker put the ball in the back of the net twice – although only one counted. Overall, Keane thought he was “outstanding”. “His performance was outstanding,” Keane said of the Uruguayan. “He was frustrated at half time no doubt with the goal disallowed. But if you look at strikers around world football – obviously we’ve seen at his previous clubs – his movement is as good as any striker in the world. “He is a clever, smart guy. Okay, he doesn’t stretch teams like [Anthony] Martial does or whatever but his movement [and] his finishing is up there with the best in the world.” Solskjaer addresses Cavani future There is a chance, however, that this season may be Cavani’s only one in a United shirt. His contract expires in the summer and although there is an option to extend it by another year, he is expected to return to South America. Solskjaer admitted afterwards that the Uruguay international is thinking about heading home – and the manager would have no hard feelings if he did decide that. “For a new lad who doesn’t speak English and not having his family over here, of course it’s in the back of his head,” he said. “Fingers crossed. “If he decides it’s just the season then we’d be very happy to have had him here.” READ MORE: Solskjaer slams ‘injustice’ that sparked Man Utd into life against Tottenham The post Roy Keane claims Man Utd goalscorer was ‘dreadful’ against Tottenham appeared first on TEAMtalk. - SPORT BETTING

Roy Keane thought that Fred was “dreadful” in Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur, despite the midfielder getting on the scoresheet.

Solskjaer addresses Cavani future

His contract expires in the summer and although there is an option to extend it by another year, he is expected to return to South America.

Solskjaer admitted afterwards that the Uruguay international is thinking about heading home – and the manager would have no hard feelings if he did decide that.
