Odegaard hint, as Arteta confirms Kroenke Sports have verified transfer plans Mikel Arteta has hinted he is hopeful over a permanent deal for Martin Odegaard after revealing that his summer transfer plans will have the full backing of Arsenal’s owners. The club reported a loss of £47.8m for the financial year from 2019-20, with most of that down to the Covid-19 pandemic. A ban on fans has seen Arsenal’s matchday revenue, which was £109m in 2018-19, wiped out. Arteta though has admitted that he has the full support of Kroenke Sports and Entertainment ahead of the summer transfer window. Arteta is widely expected to continue the cull, which started in January, on the club’s fringe players. The cash raised from departures will then be put back into squad strengthening. And the boss has hinted that if they can finish in the European places their budget is likely to be significantly bigger. The Spaniard has hatched a plan aimed at improving his squad, which was boosted by permanent deals for Pablo Mario, Gabriel and Thomas Partey last summer. “The team is going to reflect in better performances, results and at the end of the season we’ll see where we are and have a discussion,” said Arteta. “We know what we want to do, we’ve got a plan that we’ll put together. We know there are certain scenarios that can vary, we can’t really control. And they’ll be dependant on things that today we can’t really determine.     “But the plan is to go ahead with what we want and I know they (the Kroenkes) fully agree with that and they’ve been really supportive with us.” One man who is likely to be on Arteta’s wanted list is Odegaard, 22.
