Merson tells Man Utd which striker is ‘perfect’ for them to challenge City Arsenal legend Paul Merson has urged Manchester United to sign ‘perfect’ Tottenham striker Harry Kane this summer, if they want to challenge City for the title next season. The Red Devils are expected to be in the market for a new No.9, as well as a centre-back, with Kane and Borussia Dortmund goal machine Erling Haaland both on their radar. Kane has scored more than 200 goals for Spurs since making his first-team debut back in 2011, while he’s also notched 34 times for England. Reports have emerged recently that the 27-year-old is considering quitting the club if they don’t qualify for the Champions League. Chairman Daniel Levy would demand a king’s ransom for the attacker. However, Merson thinks the Red Devils should pull out all the stops to get their man. He told Sky Sports: “I just think he’s perfect for Manchester United. “If Manchester United want to challenge Manchester City over the next three or four years, they will have to have a Harry Kane. “They have to have a centre-forward. In my opinion.” Give our social media channels a follow – we’re on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram Scholes would go Haaland over Kane While Merson thinks Kane is the man for United, club legend Paul Scholes would go a different route.
