Tottenham are reportedly to listen to offers this summer for a star who has recently returned to favour under Jose Mourinho.
Former record signing Davinson Sanchez is the player in question, with an exit at the end of the season looking likely.
That is according to the Daily Express, which claims that the 24-year-old will be sacrificed after failing to nail down a regular place in the side.
The Colombian arrived at Spurs in the summer of 2017 from Ajax in a then club-record £42m transfer.
However, despite showing his qualities at times, Sanchez has often suffered from inconsistency to his game.
The report has dropped at a time when the defender has actually had one of his better spells at Tottenham.
Sanchez has been preferred to Eric Dier in recent weeks and put in some impressive displays. However, he was caught out for Arsenal’s penalty winner, despite a harsh award for a foul on Alexandre Lacazette.
Despite his resurgence, the Express claims that Spurs will hope to recoup a decent fee for the player this summer.
Sanchez to be replaced by world class star
That money will then go towards bringing a world class centre-back to the club. Indeed, Mourinho has reportedly already instructed super-agent Jorge Mendes to find him a new one to replace the Colombian.
Spurs have been linked with the likes of Southampton’s Jannik Vestergaard in recent weeks, althought that hardly looks like an upgrade.
The one player they chased all summer, and were linked with again in January, was Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar.
The Slovakian remains Mourinho’s preferred target, although a deal could cost up to £40million.
That figure could prove too much for Tottenham, although recouping anything above £25m for Sanchez would certainly soften the blow.
