Thierry Henry likens Man Utd, Chelsea target to Ruud van Nistelrooy Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has compared a Manchester United and Chelsea striker target to former Red Devils frontman Ruud van Nistelrooy. Borussia Dortmund attacker Erling Haaland has rapidly become one of the most sought-after forwards in world football. The 20-year-old has enjoyed an incredible 15-month spell in Germany, notching 47 goals in just 48 games. Having failed to snap the Norwegian when he moved to Dortmund in 2019, the MEN claims that United have now made Haaland their top target this summer. The report adds that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and new football director John Murtough have mutually agreed that Haaland is the perfect long-term replacement for Romelu Lukaku. Chelsea, meanwhile, are said to have their own plan in place to sign the former RB Salzburg man. Speaking to Sky Sports prior to Liverpool’s trip to Wolves, Henry said that sees similarities in Haaland’s selfish streak in front of goal – similar to that of Van Nistelrooy. “He doesn’t care about anything else other than the goal. He doesn’t care, other players will go onto the wing, he wants to stay in the frame of the net, in between the two posts, he knows he’s lethal there,” Henry said. “He’s so powerful, by the way, if you look at him, you think: ‘Oh, trouble’. The way he finishes is just ridiculous. He believes so much in himself – I like that – there’s a bit of cockiness about him. You’ve got to be a bit cocky, you’ve got to look and people and think you can score. “Yes (similar to van Nistelrooy), him, the likes of – not so much in our day – Pele, but the desire that they have. They want to kill, they want to be in the box, they’re looking at the defender and thinking: ‘You’re not going to be able to live with me’. “You can see sometimes when the midfielder doesn’t give him the ball, that look you sometimes give your midfielder, like: ‘Eh, are you going to give me the ball? I want to score now, I want to be the guy who’s going to make the team win’. I can see that with him.” Give our social media channels a follow – we’re on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram Haaland the man to replace Cavani Manchester United have been told they signed Edinson Cavani at the ‘wrong time’ and that they now need a younger version of the Uruguay striker.
