Two Manchester United players have growing frustrations and want assurances over their futures, while Liverpool’s stance on Jurgen Klopp’s future has been revealed – all in Tuesday’s transfer gossip.
MAN UTD DUO SEEK CRUNCH TALKS
Edinson Cavani and Eric Bailly want assurances over their futures at Man Utd amid doubts over their contracts, according to The Sun.
Cavani has made a decent impact since joining United as a free agent in the summer. However, the fact that he only signed a one-year contract puts his future in doubt.
United have the option to extend that deal by a further year, but it is not yet clear what their plans are.
Reports earlier this week suggested that Cavani was already eyeing his next move. The Uruguay international fancies a return to South America to join Argentine side Boca Juniors.
According to the Daily Mail, United are ready to hold talks with him following those reports. But The Sun paint a different picture of the situation.
They claim that Cavani wants to know what United’s intentions are for next season in terms of who will be leading the line.
They have been linked once again with Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, for example. Such a move would push Cavani down the pecking order.
The 34-year-old still wants to play regularly, so would have to consider his options in that event. But if United can reassure him that he will get gametime, he could yet stay.
In fact, it is claimed that Cavani is “keen” to stay. However, he is not happy that United have not held talks with him until learning of interest from elsewhere.
Bailly unhappy with gametime
Meanwhile, Bailly has seen his role in defence reduced in recent years due to injuries. He has made just seven starts in the Premier League this season.
The Ivorian’s contract has one more year left on it than Cavani’s. But that still puts United in a perilous position, as if they decide they don’t want him any more, they would have to sell him this summer to avoid losing him for free.
The Sun cite a dressing room source who claims Bailly does not feel trusted by Solskjaer. What’s more, he thinks he is being treated unfairly.
Therefore, he is seriously considering his future.
