Ferdinand ‘warned’ Keane after he ‘punched’ Man Utd team-mate Rio Ferdinand says he had to warn Roy Keane after he “punched” Chris Eagles in Manchester United training. Keane, who was renowned for his tough tackling at Old Trafford, apparently took exception to a tackle from a young Eagles in the mid to late noughties. Eagles only played 17 times for United before leaving in July 2008, but he was there long enough to ruffle Keane’s feathers. Speaking on his FIVE YouTube channel, Ferdinand revealed the controversial Keane moment when he allegedly “punched” Eagles. Ferdinand said: “I remember when Roy Keane punched up Chris Eagles one time. He (Eagles) was only [a] young kid, (taking) liberties. It was good for him Eagles. “Roy must have been coming back from an injury, or he didn’t play, and he was playing with the reserves and the youngsters that were in there like Eagles and Lee Martin were like rats, getting in close and trying to tackle. “He went in late on Roy once or twice and Roy said to him, ‘Listen, slow down’. The ball comes in again, Eagles was trying to impress, trying to leave him mark and left a little bit on Roy again and pulled his jersey. “Roy just turned round and went bang in the jaw. A quick short jab and I just stood there and went, ‘Roy, what’s wrong with you?’. “And I went inside and said, ‘Roy, why are you doing that for? He’s a young kid man.’ And I warned him.”     Solskjaer ‘made a mistake’ Meanwhile, former Liverpool striker John Aldridge has accused United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer of showing ‘arrogance’ after he claimed his side were not getting fair treatment from referees over penalty decisions. United have been awarded 22 penalties over the last two Premier League seasons. It’s a total that is far more than any other team in the competition. Yet Solskjaer was fuming as his side were not given a spot-kick when Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi appeared to handle the ball in the box. The incident occured during the first half of Sunday’s 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge. Now former Reds striker Aldridge has suggested those public comments may come back to haunt him.
