Club chief swings West Ham door wide open for Liverpool-dreaming Austrian Stuttgart sporting director Sven Mislintat has admitted that his club may have to sell West Ham and Liverpool-linked striker Sasa Kalajdzic this summer. The Hammers, who are searching for Sebastian Haller’s replacement, have reportedly eyed up the Austrian. Kalajdzic is in strong Bundesliga form, having scored eight goals in seven games. Indeed, he netted for the seventh successive game in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Hoffenheim. However, the striker recently opened the door to a move to Liverpool. He said that he would not be able to turn down a move to Anfield if Reds bosses come calling. Nevertheless, former Arsenal chief Mislintat has admitted that Kalajdzic’s exciting profile this season could make a summer sale a strong possibility. “We will not be able to keep our top players forever,” he told Kicker (via Sport Witness). “We will even have to finance ourselves by selling players. “Not because you are threatened with bankruptcy, but so that we can develop further. We have to raise funds, so that we can develop further.” Kalajdzic left Austria in the summer of 2019 to move to Germany. However, he barely featured in his first Bundesliga campaign following a cruciate ligament injury. However, he has stepped up significantly this term and reportedly attracted Premier League interest. West Ham made a sizeable loss on club-record signing Haller by selling him to Ajax in January. But while Michail Antonio remains a strong figure up front, they failed to find a replacement in January amid links with Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri. But Kalajdzic, whose deal with Stuttgart expires in 2023, told Kicker of his future: “I  am not concerned with this. “I can well imagine an extension of the contract.” Pundit raves over potential West Ham deal Meanwhile, one pundit has claimed that a permanent deal for on-loan Hammers defender Craig Dawson will be the “deal of the year”. Dawson temporarily switched Watford for West Ham, with reports in The Sun claiming that he is playing his way to a permanent deal as per a clause. But Noel Whelan feels that tying the defender down for relatively cheap would prove invaluable for the Hammers.
