Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel spoke of the differences between the Premier League to other leagues he has managed in, and joked his side still haven’t conceded from an opponent after Antonio Rudiger’s bizarre own goal.
Chelsea continued their unbeaten start to life under Thomas Tuchel with a relatively comfortable 2-1 victory at Bramall Lane.
Mason Mount put the Blues in front on the stroke of half-time with a superbly controlled strike with his weaker foot.
A comical Rudiger own goal handed Sheffield Utd a lifeline, but the resurgent Timo Werner continued his revival when notching his second assist of the evening.
Latching on to an errant back-pass, the German won what would prove to be the game-deciding penalty after drawing a foul from Aaron Ramsdale.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Tuchel said: “We arrive in February in Sheffield you know what’s waiting for you, it feels like a cup game when you arrive here, against a team that are full of energy and very direct and physical you have to accept that not all moments are easy in the game.

“We stayed positive all the time with some difficult moments to overcome. Deserved win in general happy with that and from that you build confidence and it’s always easier to proceed.
“We had some moments where we could control the game in the middle, where we found the solution under pressure we had some easy ball losses where we played a bit too much. The solution would’ve been in the front or middle to calm things down.
“First 10-15 minutes were difficult to overcome because they started with a lot of courage, we were lucky with the penalty.”
Regarding the revival of frontman Werner, Tuchel added: “When he plays like this we are happy it was a big step forward. He won the decisive pen against Spurs and tonight, for the first goal it was an amazing run and assist. Goals will come if he carries on like this.”
On Rudiger’s own goal, Tuchel said wryly: “Still no goal from opponent, we did it ourself.

“We lacked concentration and communication in that moment. It should not happen but it happened, we have to accept mistakes. Happy with the response that it did not cost us points or confidence so the response was good and we can learn from that.”
Regarding his experience of life in the Premier League thus far, Tuchel concluded: “The type of football is physical and tougher and there is a lot of quality and during matches it never stops.
“You feel absolute spirit to give everything in every match it brings out the best in every player and it’s a pleasure to coach every game because this is what we love and what I love and so far things are going well and we are happy.”
Werner addresses scoring drought
Man of the match Werner also spoke to the press, telling Sky Sports: “Overall a good win for us, difficult against a high defending Sheffield United and proud that we continue our last wins. For myself, again no goal but it is good to see I can help the team with other things.
“I am happy when we win and with two assists but as a striker you want to score, it has been a long time and I have not had this long without in my career. The goals will come.
“Every manager is different, he give us a lot of idea and now I play on the left and can play behind the striker or a 10 behind me, that is very good for me and the last wins were also a good move from the manager.
“In the future maybe I can take penalty but in this moment, I need to score some normal goals before taking a penalty.
“It was a clear penalty and I was shocked it was not given straight away. The VAR helps the referee.”
