BILD’s Christian Falk claims Leipzig fully expect Konate to leave. “Of course he’s in great demand,” Falk said. “But he’s also got an exit clause of around €30m (£26.5million) plus that can be made possible this summer. “Leipzig have to be prepared for an exciting summer transfer window if they are to avoid losing two centre-backs come the end of it.” However, there is a growing belief at United that they can win the race for his signature. Furthermore, he may prove – pound for pound – a more shrewd investment than Upamecano. At just 21 years old, Konate looks a seriously good prospect. With 11 France U21 caps to his name, it surely won’t be long before he graduates to the full Les Bleus squad.
